We attend events & then get together to share our observations and ideas.
WHO IS IT FOR? AND WHY?
Helping event people have more success.
Do you find yourself going to events and watching the queues!?
Checking the signage? Or even worse, counting the toilets??
Are you always dreaming up new ideas? And do you always look to learn?
Are you a big critic of your own events?
“Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn”
Do you think we learn best by doing something?
Do you agree there is nothing like experiencing it to know it?
Do you go to ‘networking events’, but not actually meet anyone interesting?
Do you think we should all share some more ideas?
Attend or participate with us, or by yourself, then we meet as a group in person or online.
Join our club review session on Thursday September 14, 3-4pm.

*See details below on how it all works!
HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?
The Event Club is attending events together (or by ourselves) and then sharing our experiences so that we can achieve more together.
You can attend to participate, volunteer, or just observe, and we then meet up (sometimes on the day and always in a separate session online) afterwards to share our thoughts on ‘the experience’.
Why focus on the experience?
Because we believe that the experience matters the most.
What people experience decides whether they want to come to our event, if they come back again, and what they will say about you.
But everyone has a different experience and has different expectations.
So if we can all understand what makes a better experience, the more influential our work will be.
And why share our experiences together?
Because between us we have so much knowledge to share, and by sharing it we will be creating better experiences, but also be more connected, to more good people.
I STILL DON'T GET IT!?
Do I sign up for 'the EVENT CLUB session' – and – the event?
Sign up for the Club session with the buttons above. That gives you the online meeting details.
Then sign up for the event – however, you want to be involved with it. You can attend, participate, volunteer, or work on it, or just go along and observe!
Do we attend together?
We will often attend the event together, or you can go yourself.
Sometimes we hold a Club meet up at the event, but usually on another day after the event (online or in person).
We will send you the info once you sign up for the Club session.
Do I need to pay?
Not for the Event Club, but yes for the event.
It is tempting to secure free passes to the events, BUT we think we should support the events, and, keep it real, by experiencing the event as a paying participant. That way we get the full experience and have the same expectations as other people.
Where IS the ACTUAL 'Event CLUB'?
And how long DOES IT GO FOR?
We meet a few days after the actual event, usually online* for 60-90mins, in small groups (*either online or in-person depending on the event).
OK! What do we discuss at the EVENT CLUB?
We have a loose structure so that our discussion is guided, that everyone gets a say, and we get some clear outcomes.
And – we ALL get to speak and speak to each other.
WHAT DOES MY 'REVIEW' INCLUDE?
We all give our ratings of the experience, and walk the group through our thoughts on the experience - answering questions like…
Who was the event for?
What did you do? Think and feel? Say and share?
What value did the event provide?
Before, during and after the event?
What was the sport or activity like?
What was the experience like at a functional level?
What about at an emotional, social, and even a transformational level?
What influence did the event have on you?
What you would have liked to have experienced more of?
If you were organising the event - one thing you’d start? One thing you’d stop?
One strategic thing you would change? Something more? Something less?
And, what will you take away and use in your work?
Are there any rules?
Just 3, be positive, open minded, and fair.
The Club is based on positive intention and contribution. Events have had it tough lately, and we are here to help each other bring them back, better than ever before!
Does/can the event organiser attend?
They can/you can.
Is it always sports events?
Mainly yes, to keep it relevant, but we will get out of our bubble and attend some non-sport events. You will see it is mainly active participation events, but again, we will attend some fan experiences/major events.
Can my event be featured?
Yes, just drop us a note.
WILL OUR IDEAS BE SHARED?
Yes, they may be, unless you tell us not too. The sessions will be recorded, but only for reference, so that we may share some key points from each Club session in a blog, and possibly with the event organisers. We believe it is time to share our ideas, and together we can make our events even stronger.
Who is this Andrew O’Loughlin guy?
This is an independent thing but sits on my site (basically cos it was easiest). I will share some of my ‘thought starters’ in each session, but it’s not about me, and while I will let you know what I do (briefly) I wont be selling you anything.
We have an awesome group that will attend regularly, and, we want to see more awesome people.
